16. Mold and Mycotoxin Testing. Coffee is an agricultural product grown and processed across many regions and environments, so we take quality and safety very seriously throughout our sourcing and roasting process.
We source specialty-grade green coffee from established importers and producers who follow strict handling and quality standards. Specialty coffee is graded to remove defects—including moldy beans—and is processed under controlled conditions that significantly reduce the likelihood of mold development compared to many other crops.
Like all agricultural products, coffee can be exposed to environmental factors if improperly handled. However, compared to crops such as corn or peanuts, coffee is generally considered a lower-risk product for mycotoxins when properly sourced and processed.
Our growing and import partners monitor for quality and safety factors—including conditions that could contribute to mold risk—as part of their grading and export processes.
During roasting, coffee is exposed to high temperatures, which significantly reduces potential microbial concerns. Our facility operates in accordance with FDA food safety requirements and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
Molds and their spores are inactivated at temperatures between approximately 140°F and 185°F when held for sufficient time. Coffee roasting occurs at significantly higher temperatures(400+), making it an effective process for eliminating mold and other microorganisms.
As part of our overall quality program, we periodically conduct spot mycotoxin testing to validate our sourcing and processing controls. We have never had a positive test.
It's also important to note that FDA food safety regulations focus not only on preventing the presence of contaminants but also on preventing the conditions that could allow them to develop, which is a key part of how our processes are designed and managed.
Single-Use Cup Machine Compatibility
